JOB DESCRIPTION


The Cedars Nursery is a well established and respected childcare provider. Opened in 1996, thousands of families have trusted us to deliver outstanding care and education for their family.

 

We are particularly known for our exceptional baby care and operate three age groups, from 6 months to 24 months, two to three years old and a large pre-school, all led by experience room leaders. We are an engaging and professional nursery with a modern mindset and a goal to provide a safe and stimulating environment for all children.


We believe in learning through play both indoors and outdoors in our extensive gardens and allotment. We work closely with parents, carers and childcare professionals utilising our bespoke software to ensure the very best outcome for all children. Our parents and carers have rated our Nursery as 10/10 on daynurseries.co.uk (correct as of January 2025).

Nursery Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION


The Cedars Nursery is an independent, family run nursery business started 30 years ago, with large nurseries in Newcastle and Sunderland, providing the highest standards of nursery care.

We now have a rare opportunity for a Nursery Manager to join our Sunderland nursery in Ashbrooke. The successful candidate will provide professional leadership, ensuring the nursery offers the highest quality of education, care and a nurturing environment, meeting all regulatory standards while promoting children's early development. 

We want someone who can spark imaginations, and help children thrive by managing the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and education in line with the EYFS, Ofsted requirements, and the nursery’s policies and procedures. Someone who can lead and mentor, supporting the nursery team, promoting a positive, collaborative, and professional culture while ensuring staff development and performance are maintained to a high standard.

A personality that will create strong, trusting relationships with families and external
agencies, supporting each child’s development and wellbeing, ensuring the nursery is always prepared to achieve highest standards in Ofsted inspections.

What you need to bring:

 

  • Must be well qualified to above NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a UK recognised early years

  • qualification

  • Excellent understanding of EYFS

  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding children

  • Leadership experience within a nursery setting - preferably for at least three years

  • An enhanced DBS (or DBS that we can then enhance)

  • Great communication skills
